A fascinating documentary looking at the increasing power of large global businesses and the impact this is having on society. 'The Corporation' is Winner of 26 International Awards and 10 Audience Choice Awards. The documentary includes interviews with 40 corporate insiders and critics - including Noam Chomsky, Naomi Klein, Milton Friedman, Howard Zinn, Vandana Shiva and Michael Moore - plus true confessions, case studies and strategies for change.
'The Corporation' looks at the rise of the corporate body as having the legal status of a "person" -- albeit with no conscience -- and its collective psychopathic raping of the planets' people and resources due to a greed-based bottom-line motivation. The film also touches on more recent trends within the corporate world to awaken morally and infuse ethics into the equation, to halt and then reverse the past damages that have been inflicted.

ReplyDeletePropaganda. Doesn't change the facts that without Corporations, the industrial revolution would not have happened. Yes, unrestricted Corporatism is bad, and the GOVERNMENT's mismanagement of regulations and laws has harmed this country, but Corporations themselves are not evil.
ReplyDeleteSocialism is evil, more so then Communism. The problems facing our economy right now stem not from Corporations, but from Socialistic Policies that give “free” crap to those who have not earned it. In a Capitalist Society, everyone has the ability and right to achieve greatness. Socialism promotes stagnation and laziness. How many innovations have come out of Europe over the past century? In fact, the last time slavery was allowed in the modern world it was in a SOCIALIST country.
Capitalism is about freedom. Socialism is about control. Corporatism is about protection. If it weren’t for Corporations, people would be suing successful business owners for stubbing their toes on a doorframe their company made, and other idiots would allow this. Essentially, without Corporations, we have a different kind of Socialism.
And the United States is not a Corporation, it is a Federalist Nation. Essentially an alliance of nations working together, which is why each State in this country has its own constitution, they are by definition individual countries.
The problems with this country are not because of Corporations, they are because of the “American Dream”. Everyone wants to live a life of luxury where they don’t have to work and someone takes care of them. Unfortunately, no one want to go out and EARN this, they want it given to them.
I have seen the third world first hand. The Afghan people do not sit around and complain about not having the good life, they get off their ass and work to make their lives better. Unfortunately for them, because of religious zealots, they may never achieve this.
So before anyone knocks this country or our way of life, look at the rest of the world. Look at Cuba, Vietnam, North Korea and China. Do you think they have it better than us? How about the Soviet Union, where you had to wait in line for days to get a loaf of bread? (BTW, the Union of Soviet SOCIALIST Republics was a combination of Socialism and Communism).
Pampered Americans want more, and they want someone to give it to them rather than earn it. Here’s a good example:
http://www.glennbeck.com/2011/12/02/homeless-woman-with-15-kids-someones-gotta-pay-for-this/
Even Glenn Beck can agree on how wrong this woman is. This is a perfect example of how we as Americans refuse to take responsibility for our failures. If you don’t get rich, it’s no one’s fault but your own. John D. Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie were both born into a poor lifestyle, but climbed their way to the very top two become two of the richest men in the world.
Only in a Capitalist Economy is this possible, and the Corporation is a tool used by those who wish to achieve greatness.
Just so we're on the same page, you're saying that the norm, that average person in America, just sits around all day waiting to collect a welfare check? And that corporate greed leading companies to make decisions to maximize short term profit at the expense of employees, consumers, and the environment, is just a myth? Or somehow a side effect of welfare queens? You must be trolling. 4/10 for making me respond. Making your post look lengthy and "factual" was a nice touch, but citing Glenn Beck never helped anyone's argument,
Deleteall you know about socialist countries, is what capitalist media allowed you to know.you have no clue what it means to live in it, so don't talk about socialist stagnation and laziness.
Deleteyou have a pc and an internet connection, so wake up, inform yourself, think, and then talk
ps.i was born in a socialist country, controlled now by capitalist industry
didn't like it then, but neither what it is now
most of us are normal people, working for a decent life
have a nice day, julia
Capitalism Is the greater evil of them all.

Living beings are entitled to live. We should take care of each other. You are your brothers keeper after all. "Capitalism is about freedom. Socialism is about control." If capitalism is so free then why does it control so many lives. Socialism is about freedom to live. Except people are too stupid to use Socialism or Communism right.
Justin you are a capitalist slave. A slave that doesn't realize that they are a slave is the perfect slave.
So Justin, your saying that Corporations sending tens of thousands of jobs to Mexico and China, just so they can pay the workers there a lot less to make more profits, is a good thing??
DeleteIf that's Capitalism..then i'll take Socialism any day. 'The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few'.
Excuse me, but the American Dream that I was raised on was to work hard and smart, then as a result earn money, buy a house, have a family. It has noting at all to do with getting a free ride.... Also you say "In a Capitalist Society, everyone has the ability and right to achieve greatness." but what about the ill and the elderly many of whom are out on the streets instead of in care facilities.... Shame on your inflamatory and predjudiced words.
DeleteWell Rockefeller and Bill Gates is promoting GMO(Monsanto) politics through Greenwave in Africa, dont be naive its all about greed
ReplyDeleteHi is anyone care about his own right constitution ? The right to express your morality by your vote every where as a citizen of freedom . I mean instead of opposite everything of stupid politic, the day we will apply the law in entreprise, than we will have a consciencous system, moral, like the constitution understand it... entreprises like childrens of democracy, not based on king or piramidal old systems. Yes apply the law, nothing else, of democratic constitution and whe will free our nations.. isnt it the way that nuremberg did statu for the nature of morality and responsability of a nation and all her "childs"... i mean , what are the words made for , to be limited by humain or.. inhumain vision ? Apply the fondation of constitution and the nations will be saved by themselves, auto controled just like human can do it, with some knew head of control and the way it as to go in justice and expressive rights for all. There is no other way for peace and reparing out of rights that your vote can express with no frontiere. Any. Fondamental issue of respect that was breaking and slavering , that s the source. Have a nice day everyone, the world is one... lol :p
