The "civilized" world comes from Greece? Democracy comes from Greece? They weren't the only ones. Some of the comments on this video are disturbingly Eurocentric. Look up the Haudenosaunee confederacy. In addition, the Delawares had an even more complex system of democracy than the Haudenosaunee. In Benjamen Franklin's own journal, he talks about how impressed he was with the Haudenosaunee people's form of government. So much so, that he copied their form of democracy (The Great Law of Peace) for the constitution of the United States. Perhaps democracy was formed by Greece in the European world, but it certainly was not the only nation to have democracy in the world, and it would be difficult to ascertain which people had actually utilized the ideas and benefits of democracy first since there was no written language in the Americas before European contact. My point is, the Greeks aren't the only people that had come up with idea of democracy, and it is disturbing to hear people make statements like that. It minimizes and belittles other nations and people who were, and still are, wrongly considered to be uncivilized.
