INTERNET FREEDOM: The Past, Present and Future of Internet Censorship

When oppressed people's only means of awareness of their plight is found online, the freedom of internet is not a technological, political or social problem; it is a human rights issue.

In recent years the general public has mobilized to face legislative threats to Internet freedoms.

Far from a conclusive victory, however, the death of SOPA and PIPA only highlight the latest in a series of measures that are seeking to create a legal framework for government-administered Internet censorship.

They are trying to butcher the internet because the internet is a powerful tool against being brainwashed.

The Past, Present and Future of Internet Censorship

Aaron Swartz: How We Stopped SOPA

ACTA: A global treaty could allow corporations to police what we do on the Internet. Last week we successfully pushed back the US censorship bills -- if we act now, we can get the EU Parliament to bury this new threat -- add your voice now!

To all members of the EU Parliament: As concerned global citizens, we call on you to stand for a free and open Internet and reject the ratification of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA), which would destroy it. The Internet is a crucial tool for people around the world to exchange ideas and promote democracy. We urge you to show true global leadership and protect our rights.

ACTA Explained by Anonymous | Sign the Petition to STOP ACTA!

A demonstrator with ACTA stickers on his mouth takes part in a protest against Poland's government plans to sign international copyright agreement ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement), in front of the European Union office in Warsaw on January 24, 2012

Update: 13 April 2012 - GREAT NEWS! Following our 2.5 million strong campaign against the ACTA attack on our Internet freedom, the politician in charge of pushing the bill through Europe's Parliament has called for its rejection! Let's keep the pressure up -- sign and share now!

28 February 2012 - Amazing! Parliament received 2.4 million petition signatures against ACTA! A petition calling "to stand for a free and open Internet and reject the ratification of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA)" was received by the European Parliament on Tuesday. The petition had been signed by almost 2.5 million people from all over the world.

Parliament received 2.4 million petition signatures against ACTA!
"Receiving a petition supported by more than 2 million people places an even bigger responsibility on us to listen to the European people and offer them a place to express their views to the European institutions", said Petitions Committee chair Erminia Mazzoni (EPP, IT), after the petition was presented.

The European Parliament has only just begun to consider the proposed ACTA deal. It will need to examine it carefully, taking all concerns into account, making a reasoned assessment of the facts and weighing Internet freedom on the one hand and the fight against counterfeiting on the other. The Petitions Committee will decide in the coming weeks how the petition is to be followed up.

The petition was presented by Alex Wilks, Pascal Vollenweider and Anne Agius, on behalf of Avaaz, an organisation which uses the Internet to campaign on various issues. It calls on the European Parliament "to stand for a free and open Internet and reject the ratification of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA), which would destroy it".

12 February 2012 - Anti-ACTA Day: Thousands protest across Europe

Anonymous bring an urgent update on ACTA. Seems like that the death of PIPA & SOPA bring a greater threat to our internet freedom.

As cyberspace turns its attention to the SOPA and PIPA bills in the US, the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, or ACTA, has been quietly signed or ratified by most of the developed world and is arguably the biggest threat to Internet freedom yet.

ACTA Explained - Spread the Word | by Anonymous

ACTA has – officially – been in the works since 2008, and was signed by the US, Australia, Canada, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore and South Korea in 2011. All negotiations were held behind closed doors, and it is mostly thanks to Internet hacktivist groups like Anonymous that news of the potential damage ACTA could cause has spread.

Most recently, Anonymous turned their attention to Poland, where officials announced that they will sign the controversial treaty on January 26. A number of government website attacks has left them paralyzed for two days, and several Polish websites have since announced they will go dark in protest at the treaty, echoing recent unprecedented actions by Wikipedia, Redditt, BoingBoing and many others.

However, Polish officials have said they will sign the agreement as planned. Government minister Michal Boni said "The ACTA agreement in no way changes Polish laws or the rights of Internet users and Internet usage,” after a meeting with Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The irony of that statement is that ACTA will do exactly that. It will surpass the sovereign laws of participating nations, especially in the matter of ISP monitoring.

INTERNET FREEDOM: The Past, Present and Future of Internet Censorship

ACTA's reach is far more global, with countries like the US, Switzerland, Japan and all European Union members in its grasp. It is allegedly being introduced "to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries' law enforcement agencies." But in reality, the measures that have been worked on by behind-the-scenes politicians and media industry moguls are just shy of draconian.

Under this new treaty, Internet Service Providers will police all data passing through them, making them legally responsible for what their users do online. And should you do something considered "breach of copyright" like, for instance, getting a tattoo of a brand logo, taking a photo and posting it somewhere, you may be disconnected from the Internet, fined or even jailed.

This, of course, threatens the entire founding idea of the Internet – the free sharing of information. But ACTA doesn't stop there. It goes beyond the Internet, bearing down on generic drugs and food patents. If passed, ACTA will enforce a global standard for seed patenting, which would wipe out independent, local farmers and make the world completely dependent on the patent owners (read "big corporations") for supplies.

The agreement states that it must be signed and ratified by 2013, but the seemingly late deadline is no cause for celebration. And if the secrecy surrounding this latest censor tool continues to hold, it may be put into effect without anyone noticing.

Sign the Petition to STOP ACTA!
The newest threat to Internet freedom.

Structure & Degrees of Freemasonry

History: The origins and early development of Freemasonry are a matter of some debate and conjecture. A poem known as the "Regius Manuscript" has been dated to approximately 1390 and is the oldest known Masonic text.

There is evidence to suggest that there were Masonic lodges in existence in Scotland as early as the late 16th century (for example the Lodge at Kilwinning, Scotland, has records that date to the late 16th century, and is mentioned in the Second Schaw Statutes (1599) which specified that "ye warden of ye lug of Kilwynning tak tryall of ye airt of memorie and science yrof, of everie fellowe of craft and everie prenteiss according to ayr of yr vocations"). There are clear references to the existence of lodges in England by the mid-17th century.

Freemasonry is a fraternal organization that arose from obscure origins in the late 16th to early 17th century. Freemasonry now exists in various forms all over the world, with a membership estimated at around six million, including approximately 150,000 under the jurisdictions of the Grand Lodge of Scotland and Grand Lodge of Ireland, over a quarter of a million under the jurisdiction of the United Grand Lodge of England and just under two million in the United States.

The fraternity is administratively organized into independent Grand Lodges or sometimes Orients, each of which governs its own jurisdiction, which consists of subordinate (or constituent) Lodges. The various Grand Lodges recognize each other, or not, based upon adherence to landmarks (a Grand Lodge will usually deem other Grand Lodges who share common landmarks to be regular, and those that do not to be "irregular" or "clandestine").

There are also appendant bodies, which are organizations related to the main branch of Freemasonry, but with their own independent administration.

Jacque Fresco's full interview with Larry King, 1974

Back in 1974 Jacque Fresco was told he was a man before his time. Observe this Larry King interview and see for yourself. See that he is not a man before his time but a man trying to change the social culture of his time (and for good reason).

“I have no notions of a perfect society, I don't know what that means. I know we can do much better than what we've got, I'm no utopian, I'm not a humanist that would like to see everybody living in warmth and harmony: I know that if we don't live that way, we'll kill each other and destroy the Earth.” -Jacque Fresco

Jacque Fresco's full interview with Larry King, 1974. Original video, provided by reciprocal agreement with William Gazecki and contained in the Future by Design Documentary 2-Disc Collector's Edition DVD

"This is a new science: socio-cyberneering. And this is its inventor, the extraordinary Jacque Fresco. He's my guest this weekend on News Weekend. My guest is an extraordinary Miamian: Dr. Jacque Fresco.

I could go through all the things that Dr. Fresco has done. He's a social engineer, industrial engineer, designer, inventor, was a consultant for Rotorcraft Helicopter, Director of Scientific Research Laboratories, Los Angeles, designed and copyrighted various items, ranging from drafting instruments to X-ray units, has had works published in the Architectural Record, Popular Mechanics, Saturday Review, and has been a technical and psychological consultant to the motion picture industry, member of the Air Force design and development unit at Wright Field, developed the electrostatic anti-icing systems, designed prefabricated aluminum houses."

Take it either way but the US dept are fighting back for their humiliation yesterday due to Blackout over the internet. Now they have SHUT down the Megaupload site for piracy allegation. While even the most dumbest of all could understand that it is clearly revenge for the protest against SOPA-PIPA act. In addition to the shutting down 4 people from Megaupload were also arrested and $50 million+ worth of assets seized.

ANONYMOUS REACTION.

Anonymous launches largest attack ever, crippling government and music industry sites. Hacktivists with the collective Anonymous are waging an attack on the website for the White House after successfully breaking the sites for the Department of Justice, FBI, Universal Music Group, RIAA and Motion Picture Association of America.

Many members of Congress have just changed their stance on the controversial Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA, the raid on Megaupload Thursday proved that the feds don’t need SOPA or its sister legislation, PIPA, in order to pose a blow to the Web.

Anonymous hacked many sites and started a new mission called #OpMegaUpload. The hacked sites include:

Department of Justice (Justice.gov)
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI.gov)
Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA.org)
Universal Music (UniversalMusic.com)
Belgian Anti-Piracy Federation (Anti-piracy.be/nl/)

Viva la Revolution! - Poverty of Philosophy

The year 2011 was the beginning of the global revolution. The year 2012 will be the year that shall never be forgotten with a positive result for humanity, not for the 1 %!

Most of my Latino and black people who are struggling to get food, clothes and shelter in the hood are so concerned with that, that philosophising about freedom and socialist democracy is usually unfortunately beyond their rationale. They don't realize that America can't exist without separating them from their identity, because if we had some sense of who we really are, there's no way in hell we'd allow this country to push it's genocidal consensus on our homelands. This ignorance exists, but it can be destroyed.

Niggas talk about change and working within the system to achieve that. The problem with always being a conformist is that when you try to change the system from within, it's not you who changes the system; it's the system that will eventually change you. There is usually nothing wrong with compromise in a situation, but compromising yourself in a situation is another story completely, and I have seen this happen long enough in the few years that I've been alive to know that it's a serious problem. Latino America is a huge colony of countries whose presidents are cowards in the face of economic imperialism. You see, third world countries are rich places, abundant in resources, and many of these countries have the capacity to feed their starving people and the children we always see digging for food in trash on commercials. But plutocracies, in other words a government run by the rich such as this one and traditionally oppressive European states, force the third world into buying overpriced, unnecessary goods while exporting huge portions of their natural resources.

I'm quite sure that people will look upon my attitude and sentiments and look for hypocrisy and hatred in my words. My revolution is born out of love for my people, not hatred for others.

You see, most of Latinos are here because of the great inflation that was caused by American companies in Latin America. Aside from that, many are seeking a life away from the puppet democracies that were funded by the United States; places like El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru, Colombia, Nicaragua, Ecuador and Republica Dominicana, and not just Spanish-speaking countries either, but Haiti and Jamaica as well.

As different as we have been taught to look at each other by colonial society, we are in the same struggle and until we realize that, we'll be fighting for scraps from the table of a system that has kept us subservient instead of being self-determined. And that's why we have no control over when the embargo will stop in Cuba, or when the bombs will stop dropping in Vieques.

But you see, here in America the attitude that is fed to us is that outside of America there live lesser people. "Fuck them, let them fend for themselves." No, Fuck you, they are you. No matter how much you want to dye your hair blonde and put fake eyes in, or follow an anorexic standard of beauty, or no matter how many diamonds you buy from people who exploit your own brutally to get them, no matter what kind of car you drive or what kind of fancy clothes you put on, you will never be them. They're always gonna look at you as nothing but a little monkey. I'd rather be proud of what I am, rather than desperately trying to be something I'm really not, just to fit in. And whether we want to accept it or not, that's what this culture or lack of culture is feeding us.

I want a better life for my family and for my children, but it doesn't have to be at the expense of millions of lives in my homeland. We're given the idea that if we didn't have these people to exploit then America wouldn't be rich enough to let us have these little petty material things in our lives and basic standards of living. No, that's wrong. It's the business giants and the government officials who make all the real money. We have whatever they kick down to us. My enemy is not the average white man, it's not the kid down the block or the kids I see on the street; my enemy is the white man I don't see: the people in the white house, the corporate monopoly owners, fake liberal politicians those are my enemies. The generals of the armies that are mostly conservatives those are the real Mother-Fuckers that I need to bring it to, not the poor, broke country-ass soldier that's too stupid to know shit about the way things are set up.

In fact, I have more in common with most working and middle-class white people than I do with most rich black and Latino people. As much as racism bleeds America, we need to understand that classism is the real issue. Many of us are in the same boat and it's sinking, while these bougie Mother-Fuckers ride on a luxury liner, and as long as we keep fighting over kicking people out of the little boat we're all in, we're gonna miss an opportunity to gain a better standard of living as a whole.

In other words, I don't want to escape the plantation I want to come back, free all my people, hang the Mother-Fucker that kept me there and burn the house to the god damn ground. I want to take over the encomienda and give it back to the people who work the land.

You cannot change the past but you can make the future, and anyone who tells you different is a Fucking lethargic devil. I don't look at a few token Latinos and black people in the public eye as some type of achievement for my people as a whole. Most of those successful individuals are sell-outs and house Negros.

But, I don't consider brothers a sell-out if they move out of the ghetto. Poverty has nothing to do with our people. It's not in our culture to be poor. That's only been the last 500 years of our history; look at the last 2000 years of our existence and what we brought to the world in terms of science, mathematics, agriculture and forms of government. You know the idea of a confederation of provinces where one federal government controls the states? The Europeans who came to this country stole that idea from the Iroquois LEAGUE. The idea of impeaching a ruler comes from an Aztec tradition. That's why Montezuma was stoned to death by his own people 'cause he represented the agenda of white Spaniards once he was captured, not the Aztec people who would become Mexicans.

So in conclusion, I'm not gonna vote for anybody just 'cause they black or Latino they have to truly represent the community and represent what's good for all of us proletariat.

Porque sino entonces te mando por el carajo cabron gusano hijo de puta, seramos libre pronto, viva la revolucion, VIVA LA REVOLUCION!

You are the Resistance - Resistance is Victory!

When The People take the battlefield, they begin to have victories. Here's just a few examples of recent victories-- both partial and whole-- from the campaign to Stop SOPA, to Ron Paul's 2012 campaign, the movement to remove dangerous chemicals from our food, water and vaccines, to the battle to stop the police state-- with many more victories to come in 2012. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton herself admitted that the big brother state was losing the Infowar. Ideas are bulletproof. Remember what Victor Hugo said: 'No army can stop an idea whose time has come.'

Resistance is victory! We should stand up, get involved and take action. The world is at a crossroad, noone can deny that tyranny is growing accross the globe.
  1. Congress ended its least-productive year in modern history after passing 80 bills - fewer than during any other session since year-end records began being kept in 1947.
  2. Obama signed National Defense Authorization Act, however he says he doesn't even need NDAA to indefinitely detain Americans. They tried to denied it, they want to do it in secret, they are weak.
  3. FEMA .
  4. Americans buy record numbers of guns for christmas.
  5. Banking Elite - Military - Elected Officials
We have ideas for the future, we have the ideas of freedom and liberty.
All of us have to speak up and be involved now like never before, we are having victories everytime we stand up and get involved, you have incredible power, that's why the tyrants always tell you that you are powerless, because the oppossite is true.
2012 is the year that the resistance goes to the next level! It is the beginning of the end of New World Order.

Global Awakening is upon us! You know this "ELITE"!

Anonymous - Message to World Leaders and to the World

This is an Anonymous message from the Global revolution to politicians dictators and plutocrats all over the planet. Surprised by the global disobedience? Let us explain to you your delicate situation.

Tens of Thousands of years ago, human beings began to evolve. Since then, our species has walked a dark and bloody road, which isolated people condemned to live in fear caused by ignorance. Knowledge, ethics and technological development have always been conditioned by the elite and their wars, which as in the Orwellian metaphor, have done nothing more than perpetuate vertical and obscurantist social schemes.

We have arrived to the 21st Century of our era, after two World Wars, endorsing the possibility of nuclear conflict with assured mutual destruction. Their so-called economists and intellectuals, having announced that it was "the end of the story", it seemed, more than ever, that looking for a fairer order was meaningless.

Thinking that they had slowed our rational development enough, they let us carry on with a progress model whose sole objective was never more than to make them even richer and more powerful.

However, they did not consider that the real human spirit refuses to bow, always. While they believed they were overcoming us by using economic shocks, our species has evolved in a new manner. Using only the powers of culture and freedom, we have reused those technological resources that were born of our genius and that were only provided to us with consumerist intentions.

So we have updated, improved and immunized our force operations and effectiveness. We absorb their own tactics techniques and power of persuasion to form our own means dreams and challenges.

Today, the revolution is spreading around the planet as a challenge to their oppression and they shamelessly try to shut down our freedom of expression. Finally, information has reached critical mass, exploding in a melting-pot of voices whose new wishes and needs can't be covered by their old paradigm.

Now, physically and digitally interconnected, we form a huge collective consciousness. Maybe their corporate media silences what is happening but they can not fool us anymore.

They can temporarily stop some points but the process will continue unstoppable and ever-changing. Now It doesn't matter which measures they take for trying to counteract us. The more violence censorship and obstacles they put in our way, the more they expose their weakness.

From every place on the Earth, with different ideas and from different conditions, women and men have always existed and always will exist who oppose the pretends of undemocratic and unjust governments. After millenniums of suffering, our species has stood up, and nothing will ever be the same. Their totalitarian game is ending.

But friends, the story hasn't ended. This is where it begins. We'll take the streets and Occupy. Change is happening. The people should never fear the government. The government should fear the people. We are the people. We are the only system.

Dear friends.

I am sending this message in hope that someone will hear it and start acting. Anonymous brothers. It is time for action. It is time for all of us to unite. Black, white, male, female. It is time for us to make this world a better place.

We can all see the evil being done by very sick people. People who want control in this world. People who cannot stand us united, so they divided us by wars. By racism, hate. Hate between religions.IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION AND I WILL DO ANYTHING THAT IS NEEDED TO STOP THIS ONGOING MADNESS.

Your duty is to make resistance at your country. It is very important that we all do, because one cannot change everything. A voice can make the difference. A million can change the world.

If we do not act immediately our enemies will have an advantage. We have sacrificed a lot. We have fought for so long. It is time to make that final battle and win this war for all times. Wake up.

Wake up from this deep sleep that we've all been put in. It is time. To take all that knowledge from before, the knowledge of our enemies and use it against them. If we are to win this war, we have to act together.

I myself will resist the next November the fifth. And I call all of anonymous to join me in this act. Our cause will never be forgotten. Even if we fail there will always be someone who will continue our work. But then again. failure is not an option. If we are to win. We must act. Act in goodness.

We must crash media liars. We must show the world the truth. We must reveal the men behind the curtain. The men that embedded evil in this world. We have fought for so long, and so hard that we have to. Even if it costs us our lives. Because of the future generations. Our kids. Our family.

Start asking yourself what you eat, what you drink and what you breathe. Because no one will fight for you. We all must fight for ourselves. United. Stop spreading the hate and start showing love towards everyone.

If you want to change something in the world, Be the change. Join me in this act. Stop making the change and be the change. Be the change.

2012. Future is now. Resistance is here.
Join Us.

The American Dream - The Story of Your Enslavement

The AMERICAN DREAM is a 30 minute animated film that shows how we have been scammed by the most basic elements of our government system. All Americans strive for the American Dream and this film shows you why your dream is getting farther and farther away.

Subtitles available: English, Spanish, Greek, Portuguese(Brazil), Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Finnish. - Click on CC to turn the captions on.

IT'S CALLED THE AMERICAN DREAM BECAUSE YOU HAVE IT TO BE ASLEEP TO BELIEVE IT

Do you know how your money is created? Or how banking works? Why did housing prices skyrocket and then plunge? Do you really know what the Federal Reserve System is and how it affects you every single day?

The video creators understand that how the monetary system works can be very confusing to some and have done a brilliant job in explaining how the whole system is set up to keep you forever in debt. This is not what the original founding fathers of America had in mind. Also this is not just an American problem. It's the same scam in nearly all countries around the world.

THE AMERICAN DREAM takes an entertaining but hard hitting look at how the problems we have today are nothing new, and why leaders throughout our history have warned us and fought against the current type of financial system we have in America today.

You will be challenged to investigate some very entrenched and powerful institutions in this nation, and hopefully encouraged to help get our world back on track.

“It's called the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it.” -George Carlin

The best form of government is where you govern yourself. Know thyself and Meditate, could also be called mindfulness of why you think the way you think and act the way you act. The reason most people in the world are slaves is because they simply follow, imitate or believe someone or immediately disbelief someone that contradict their belief system; what they believe or perceive reality is. What we need is to BE the leader, the follower, the teacher and the student.

We can only be kept in the cages we do not see. A brief history of human enslavement - up to and including our own. From Freedomain Radio, the largest and most popular philosophy conversation in the world.

“35 million people in the U.S. are hungry or don't know where their next meal is coming from, and 13 million of them are children. If another country were doing this to our children, we'd be at war.” -Jeff Bridges

Who is Anonymous? What Does Anonymous Represent?

Dear Citizens of the World.

There has been some confusion among the media and the general population about who/what anonymous is/represents. There have also been questions asked about the input from Anonymous during the current global revolution.

Anonymous is an online pool of consciousness, sometimes we create a force towards a similar direction which could manifest in revolution. Anonymous has NO leader. We are one. We are many. One does not speak for many. Many do not speak for all. No one speaks for all. We come from all walks of life.

All age, race, sex, places. We have no ideologies. We have every ideology imaginable. We have no goals. We have every goal imaginable. To understand Anonymous would be to understand our universe. Anonymous cannot be labeled, blamed or made a scapegoat. To blame Anonymous would be to blame the citizens of the world.

There is no discrimination in Anonymous unless you do not have an internet connection. We do not work with post. No one speaks for Anonymous. Nothing is official. No videos. No operations. Not even this press release, even though it was created by an Anonymous number of Anonymous at an Anonymous time in an Anonymous place and uploaded Anonymously, it does not speak for Anonymous.

At this current time the worldwide events have attracted the attention of many Anonymous. We are shocked. We have witness the violation of human rights, basic human freedoms, media manipulation and unlawful government scare tactics and genocide.

Anonymous is everywhere. We see everything. We never sleep, while one side of the world slumber the other awakens.

We are active, always. We do not take sides, we do not believe in sides. We are not followers. We are our own leaders on our own journey. Many Anonymous uphold the law of the land, human rights and freedom of speech, but we are many. We cannot speak for all.

We know that the following countries Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bahrain, Canada, Chile, Cuba, Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Honduras, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Mexico, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States of America, Venezuela and Yemen are under protest and are watching them. Obama Signs Nation Defense Authorization Act: Indefinite Detention of Americans without a charge or trial!

Goodbye Bill of Rights, Obama Signs NDAA – a great way to start off the new year! Administration itself demanded power to detain American citizens without trial.

Barack Obama’s signing statement that was added to the passage of the Nation Defense Authorization Act bill in an effort to dampen concerns over the ‘indefinite detention’ provision of the bill is smoke and mirrors for a number of reasons – prime amongst them the fact that it was the White House itself – not lawmakers – who demanded Section 1031 be expanded to empower the government to detain U.S. citizens without trial.

Immediately after the House of Representatives passed it on a vote of 283-136, Obama signaled that the bill would be signed in the coming weeks. This deplorable act of treason only serves to cement the fact that Obama is a serial liar who has no respect for the basic rights of American citizens.

On first reading, Obama’s signing statement appears to assuage fears that American citizens could be targeted for arrest and detention without trial.

“My administration will not authorize the indefinite military detention without trial of American citizens … Indeed, I believe that doing so would break with our most important traditions and values as a nation,” wrote Obama. However, the statement is meaningless for a number of reasons.

Firstly, even if Obama manages to fulfill one of the rare occasions on which he keeps his word, this does nothing to stop future administrations from exercising the power to indefinitely detain American citizens without trial.

Secondly, the Obama administration is already carrying out even more egregious measures than those supposedly authorized within the NDAA, by targeting American citizens worldwide for state-sponsored assassination with no legal process whatsoever.

Thirdly, Obama has reversed almost every single promise he made to get elected – his word is no good. Given the right civil emergency, Obama could turn to indefinite detention of citizens without hesitation.

Crucially, Obama’s promise that he will not use the law to detain Americans without trial is completely hollow – because it was his administration that demanded the power to do so in the first place.

As the bill’s co-sponsor Senator Carl Levin said during a speech on the floor last month, it was the Obama administration that demanded the removal of language that would have precluded Americans from being subject to indefinite detention.

“The language which precluded the application of Section 1031 to American citizens was in the bill that we originally approved…and the administration asked us to remove the language which says that U.S. citizens and lawful residents would not be subject to this section,” said Levin, Chairman of the Armed Services Committee.

“It was the administration that asked us to remove the very language which we had in the bill which passed the committee…we removed it at the request of the administration,” said Levin, emphasizing, “It was the administration which asked us to remove the very language the absence of which is now objected to.”

If the Obama administration is so opposed to the idea of detaining Americans without trial, why did they push for such powers to be included in the final version of the National Defense Authorization Act?

It’s also necessary to highlight the fact that just because this bill has been passed into law, that shouldn’t bestow any kind of legitimacy to it given that indefinite detention is anathema to the bill of rights and the constitution. It was once a law that black people were not human – that doesn’t mean it’s right or should be given credence.

The passage of the indefinite detention provision is about sticking the final nail in the coffin of Posse Comitatus and openly declaring war on the American people. Is it any wonder that at the same time U.S. citizens are being targeted by the federal government, they are buying guns in record numbers?

By brazenly codifying the powers of a totalitarian state into law, lawmakers and the Obama administration have crossed the rub-icon and laid down the framework for the nationwide implementation of martial law.

But that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen tomorrow, this year or even next. The next play will not be the mass round up of American citizens, the law first has to be legitimized by being used against a universally loathed figure, just as Obama’s assassination policy was first exercised to take out Al-Qaeda members like Abdulrahman al-Awlaki.
